Biography

As a native of Shantou, China, Joey Zhuang is currently finishing her undergraduate studies at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. Her teachers are Kelly Zimba and Camille Watts, who are the principal flute and solo piccoloist at the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. In September 2021, she will be in John Thorne's flute studio at the Northwestern University, in Chicago, U.S.

Joey has performed with the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra, University of Toronto New Music Ensemble, University of Toronto Wind Ensemble, University of Toronto Wind Symphony, and the Chinese Artist Society of Toronto Philharmonia during her four years of university.

 

Besides playing in large orchestral ensembles, Joey also enjoys playing chamber music and jazz music with her friends throughout the year.
