Biography
Joey Zhuang is a Chinese flutist and piccoloist based in Maryland, who finds joy in engaging with a multitude of musical styles.
As the current faculty of International School of Music and New England Music Camp, Joey has held Principal Flute position with Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and served on faculty at University of Saskatchewan.
As an orchestral musician, Joey frequently plays with the Niagara Symphony and Allentown Symphony. She has been invited to perform at festivals in Canada, China, Scotland and the United States, from solo performances, chamber music to world premieres. Recent highlights include fellowship with the Orchestra of the America, solo performance with the Northwestern Graduate Wind Ensemble, and The Lion King (1994) in Concert world premiere.
Passionate about music education, Joey has presented at renowned institutions such as University of Toronto, University of Saskatechwan, the National Flute Association and more. Joey holds a master's degree with full scholarship in Chicago while being a member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association. She has played for renown artists such as Stefan Höskuldsson, Cynthia Meyers, Lorna McGhee, Jim Walker, and more. Joey studied under Leone Buyse, John Thorne, Jennifer Gunn, Alyce Johnson, Camille Watts, Kelly Zimba in Chicago and Toronto.
